Straws
Delicate stalactites hanging down like icicles are called straws (stalactite tubes). One of the defining features of Hida Daishonyudo is the remarkable beauty of these slender white formations.
Helictites
Twisted, drooping stalactites are called helictites — academically very rare formations. Another defining characteristic of Hida Daishonyudo is that it contains the highest concentration of helictites of any tourist cave in Japan.
Cave Low-Temperature Storage
Taking advantage of the cave’s stable, year-round low temperature, sake and shochu are stored inside. Spirits aged for over a year are designated long-term cold-storage liquor and are a popular original product of Hida Daishonyudo, purchased by many visitors.
