Ryugado Cave
One of Japan’s three great limestone caves, Ryugado offers an accessible experience of a cavern nurtured over 175 million years. Stretching 4 kilometers in total length, approximately 1 kilometer is open to the public, where visitors can enjoy a variety of natural stalactite formations including Tenkoishi, a massive pillar standing 11 meters tall. The cave is also valued as a cultural asset, home to the globally rare Kami no Tsubo (God’s Jar), a Yayoi-era dwelling site discovered within the cave.

Yayoi Pottery
A piece of Yayoi pottery left at a water source has been coated by a layer of calcite deposited from groundwater. It offers a glimpse into the daily life of Yayoi people who lived near the cave exit approximately 2,000 years ago, and is considered a precious archaeological artifact.
